Do you stand or sit all day? Are you pregnant? Or frequently on long flights or commutes?
Constant pressure on the feet from prolonged standing or sitting causes blood to pool at the ankles. The veins in your ankles and legs expand, increasing your risk of ankle swelling, varicose “spider” veins, and venous thrombosis. Graduated compression stockings improve blood circulation by applying pressure at the ankle and gradually reducing pressure as they fit higher on the leg. The graduated compression pushes blood from your feet up toward the heart to reduce ankle swelling, prevent spider veins and reduce risk of blood clots.
Our pharmacists are trained and certified in compression stocking fitting.
Low pressure compression stockings do not require a prescription and can be purchased in-store based on shoe size. Medium-High pressure compression stockings require a doctor’s prescription and a compression stocking fitting will be performed by one of our pharmacists. Your compression stockings can be custom made to fit to your measurements with a variety of colors and fabrics to choose from. At present, compression stockings are not covered by Pharmacare, but are covered by many third party insurance plans.
